>> it says it will now use chrome alloy to replace all of the damaged pipes. chevron says the new pipes will fix the main problem that led to the fire which was pipe corrosion. it hopes to get all repairs done early next year and have that refinery working back at a hundred percent within the first three months of the year.ç a rush hour tragedy avoided tonight. a woman accidentally drove her car on to the tracks at maple it happened around 6:00 tonight. our nbc chopper on the scene. she and a child were able to get out of the car safely. but before the car was removed, it was struck by a southbound train with about 300 passengers on board. traffic was closed in both directions and pazen jers had to be rerouted.ç >> coming up, a final wish for a father that could save his life.

. tonight, some 3,000 jpcalif thing in common that they did not have yesterday. the possibility of freedom. voters overwhelmingly decided to reform the state's three-strikes law. the mote ef is money.ç but the gains and the losses may be more than just monetary. this is how the vote broke down last night, 69 percent in favor, 31 percent against it.ç we're live with more on the fallout. cheryl? >> reporter: well, some of the prisoners here at sangui quinto already have three strikes on their record. >> the non-serious, non-violent people filling up our prisons was not what the intent of the three strikes law was. >> now, that law has beenç changed in california and it's all because voters approved proposition 36.

here's the thing to note about tomorrow. it's not going to be widespread, heavy, nonstop rainfall. it will be very hit and miss and some spots may not get any rainfall at all tomorrow.ç it's just the nature of the storm system we're dealing with. kingville, 13 inches. but look at that, all the way down to polop pines,ç we could see 2 inches of snowfall with that snow level at 2500 feet and winds that could top annest mated 90 miles per hour up across the sierra summit. if you'reç headed anywhere nea the sierra, be forewarned even though the snow totals right-hand turn goiaren't going to be too high. not eç huge soaker for us, but we'll take every drop we can get.ç once you open the door and walk on out, temperaturings are going to stay pretty much the same.ç

here's our nor'easter, it's actually lifting and pulling on out so conditions are expected to gradually get better.ç the legacy of this storm system will be anywhere from 1-5 inches of snow.ç as far as our three-day forecast goes, let's get a look at thursday. friday, we'll have a chance of ice lated thunderstorms. very hit and miss. you'll get a little bit of hail with that. and then by sunday, on veter ran's day, that's our next driest day coming our way with temperatures in the mid 60s.ç so the word abrupt is very appropriate with our weather changes. that's for sure. >> a lot of activetive. >> we'll be right back.
